Check out what I harvested from our garden this morning! Pawpaw’s, bananas, tomatoes, mulberries and fresh eggs from my fabulous chickens. I also got half a shopping bag full of limes and lemon aid fruit. My wonderful husband also had several vanilla flowers that he pollinated – to learn more about our garden check out http://discovergroweat.wordpress.com/…
It is such a treat to be able to enjoy such fresh produce that we have grown ourselves. It is a little time consuming and yes at this time of the year water consuming…but the rewards are worth it.
Pawpaw’s contain 144% of the daily recommended intake of vitamin C per serving. Vitamin C is a fantastic immune booster helping to fight infection and is also an antioxidant.
Pawpaw also contains vitamin A which assists in maintain healthy skin, mucous membranes and vision; Folate, potassium that assists in regulating the distribution of cellular fluids, regulates heart rate and blood pressure; fibre to assist in maintaining a healthy digestive system, stabilising blood glucose and cholesterol levels.
B vitamins – folic acid, pyridoxine (B6), riboflavin and thiamine (B1) are essential nutrients meaning the body requires these to carry out multiple body functions however the body is unable to produce them and therefore must be consumed in the diet – pawpaw also includes these nutrients.
Pawpaw contains hundreds amino acids and several enzymes including papain, a proteolytic enzyme that has an anti-inflammatory effect on the stomach and also assists digestive function, reduces acid reflux, assists in treating gastric ulcers and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
